About Us

For over 90 years, Country Garden Club has contributed to the preservation, conservation, and beautification of Perrysburg, Ohio and the surrounding community. From our first community project in 1932 to the present, the energetic members of the CGC have worked tirelessly toward the betterment of Northwest Ohio.  Based on their interests, members of CGC choose to get involved with one or more of these committees: Conservation, Floral Design, Garden History & Design, Horticulture, and Photography.

Thousands of historic sites are sustained through the efforts of volunteers. They understand thata garden is not made in a day or week or month. CGC Garden History members have documented several area gardens for inclusion in the Smithsmonian Gardens Archive, a project designed to preserve our diverse garden heritage.

Horticulture committee members are passionate about nature and the outdoors. CGC members on the Horticulture Committee are responsible for the winter and flower pots at Hospice. They also offer educational programs which are open to the public, including a recent program at The Way Library about the spotted lanternfly. Members also enjoy visiting local gardens to learn more about plants and growing.

CGC wouldn’t be a garden club if members weren’t passionate about flowers. Floral Design Committee members learn all about design and put their efforts into creating arrangements which are used for CGC events. Members also host a Blooms for Mother’s Day event at The Way Library where children are able to create beautiful arrangements for their moms.

What does it mean to be a member of CGC?

CGC holds monthly meetings, typically August through June, which feature local, regional, and national speakers on a wide variety of gardening, floral design, nature photography, and conservation topics.

The club holds annual fundraisers to raise money that goes directly back into projects in our local community. Our annual Trunk Show is a three-day fall shopping event at Carranor Hunt & Polo Club that is currently raising an average of over $50,000 annually and has been our largest fundraising event for over 35 years.CGC has also held two speaker fundraisers.

We engage in many civic service projects that contribute to our local community every year. Annually we provide hands-on prep for the Downtown Perrysburg Holiday decorations and help plan and provide for the Downtown Perrysburg hanging baskets as well.  We plant the planters outside the patient rooms at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Through our community project grants, we often get our hands dirty by providing the planting and maintenance manpower for garden projects throughout Perrysburg at locations like the Perrysburg Historical Museum, Historic Fort Meigs, Woodland Park, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and countless others.

Our club holds a Garden Club of America sanctioned
Flower Show every 3-4 years with our next show scheduled for
May, 2026 at Way Public Library.

As an all-volunteer organization, we encourage our
members to get involved in a variety of ways.  We are so proud of our long, rich history and the visible impact of our philanthropy in our local community. We treasure our friendships and the camaraderie of working together for a good cause.
