Committees

The powers of the corporation shall be exercised, its affairs conducted, and its property controlled by the Board of Directors.

The purpose of the Communications Committee is to identify opportunities for publicity/public education, work with committee chairs to promote club events, produce club newsletter, help to manage/update content of CGC website, and help identify/recommend technologies that would enhance communication.

The purpose of the Community Projects Committee is to set grant guidelines, review requests for CGC support and make recommendations to the Board and membership based on relevant findings.

The purpose of the Conservation Committee is to educate members on conservation issues and generate support for related projects.

The purpose of the Endowment Committee is exercise the responsibilities of the Endowment Fund.

The purpose of the Finance/Investment Committee is to submit a proposed annual budget.

The purpose of the Floral Design Committee is to stimulate learning, experience and appreciation of the art of floral design.

The purpose of the Garden History and Design Committee is to learn about the elements of successful garden design in a variety of settings and to document special garden locations for the Smithsonian in accordance with GCA guidelines.

The purpose of the Horticulture Committee is to stimulate knowledge of and experience in growing plants and trees.

The purpose of the Nominating Committee is to present a slate of officers to the board, accept provisional member applications, and accept member status requests.

The purpose of the Photography Committee is to stimulate learning, experience, and appreciation of the art of photography.

The purpose of the Archives Chair is to collect, organize and maintain items that document the history of the club.

The purpose of the Awards Chair is to consider and document appropriate award application in compliance with the GCA regulations.

The purpose of the Hospitality Committee is to secure appropriate meeting sites and member volunteers for the general meetings.

The purpose of the Scholarship Chair is to solicit and review all scholarship applications and make recommendations to the Board.

The purpose of the Visiting Gardens Chair is to plan garden tours for the membership.
